Miss Jodi A. Morris MEd School Counseling

This Georgia girl is so excited to be the school counselor at CMS!  The kids are my favorite and I am here to help them navigate through the fun middle school years while encouraging them to think of their future and to dream big dreams.

Having grown up going to coastal Georgia and Carolina nearly every summer weekend,  attending the College of Charleston in Charleston SC was a no brainer.  I developed a love of politics from the minute I could talk and walk by helping my granddaddy campaign for office for over 18 years and received my degree in Political Science from Charleston.  After many years in sales, customer service, banking and non profit work and basically doing all of the wrong jobs, I figured out what I wanted to do when I grew up. . . . at the age of 40ish. .  Initially, I started teaching as high school World History teacher.  All of my students kept telling me I needed to be their school counselor.  In 2016, I started my Masters in Education at Liberty University in Lynchburg Virginia and received my degree in 2019.  I accepted a position with Grundy County TN schools as the school counselor at Pelham Elementary and Palmer Elementary.  Everyone laughs when I tell them my first visit to Monteagle TN was when I pulled up with the UHAUL truck to begin moving in.  It was the biggest leap of faith moving to a town I had never heard of and into a house I have never seen but I have loved every minute of it.

As the daughter and granddaughter of farmers who loved nothing more than going to the cotton fields with my daddy and granddaddy in the summer, the outdoors make me happy!  My summers were spent playing in irrigation systems, picking wild blackberries, walking through the woods to the fishing hole at my granddaddy's pond and getting lost while making my own adventure on the big plantation where I was raised and my granddaddy farmed.  If you have never had boiled peanuts grown by your daddy, picked off the vine by your hands that afternoon and eaten later that night. . . you have missed out.

I love trail running and hiking, looking and finding artifacts, camping (in a tent), kayaking is my most favorite thing, and flowers flowers flowers.  My family is still living in Waynesboro Georgia on the old part of the family farm and you never know what kind of trouble I may get into.  Pickles. . . well if you know me you know my Pickles.

If there is ever anything I can do for you and your family, please call me or email me.  No matter how random the question, I am here to help you and your student!!
