About Mrs. Banks

Hello students and parents!

I want to extend my warmest welcome to Community Middle School, 8th grade, and our classroom community. My name is Mrs. Keisha Banks, and I am excited yet anxious for this school year to start! Hopefully, this will be a fun filled year full of lots of learning, and I can’t wait to see what this year has in store for us. I can hardly wait to learn all about you; first, here’s a little bit about myself.

Even though I was born in Chicago, I grew up in the small town of Dyersburg in West Tennessee. After graduating with honors from Dyersburg High School in 1996, I went to the University of Tennessee Knoxville. After my first year there, I decided to withdraw and go straight into the workforce. During this time, I met and married my husband, La Aaron (but you can call him CoCo). We have been married for almost 22 years and have two daughters, Adia and Monica, who both currently attend Middle Tennessee State University. In 2008, I decided to return to school; this time, I attended Dyersburg State Community College, where I obtained an Associate of Science degree in Accounting in May of 2010. By the end of June of the same year, my family and I moved to Murfreesboro where I continued my education at Middle Tennessee State University. There, I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in Math in May of 2013. In 2014, I started my career at Community Middle School teaching 8th grade Math. I have spent my whole career at Community Middle School and consider its faculty and administration my family. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, traveling, working puzzles and math problems, and shopping for shoes...especially Jordans!!!

I am excited to watch your student learn and grow with me during these next few months.  I certainly feel privileged to be a part of such a great community of students, teachers, administrators, and families.  I look forward to working with your family this year to provide the best experience possible for your child.
