Despite seeing their 4-run lead whittled down by the end, Harris Middle School Baseball still held off for a 6-5 victory on Thursday. Community closed the gap by scoring on a triple, a dropped third strike, a single, a ground out, and a solo home run.
#HMS Baseball got on the board in the top of the first inning after Canyon Todd singled, scoring one run, Knox Bowman tripled, scoring two runs, and Omar Garcia singled, scoring one run.
Harris Middle School Baseball added to their early lead in the top of the second inning after Community committed an error, and Todd singled down the left field line, each scoring one run.
Chasen McMillian pitched five innings in relief for Harris Middle School Baseball. The pitcher allowed four hits and one run while, striking out five and walking three. Bowman started on the mound for Harris Middle School Baseball. The right-handed pitcher allowed two hits and four runs over two innings, striking out four and walking six.
Todd led Harris Middle School Baseball with two hits in three at bats. Harris Middle School Baseball had a strong eye at the plate, piling up eight walks for the game. Reading to children is so important, as it builds literacy skills, sparks imagination, and fosters a lifelong love of learning. Our #HMS students were especially excited to visit rooms where they have siblings and cousins and even moms as teachers! Learning Way students were thrilled to meet and hear from the Harris students.

The #HMS Junior Varsity squad won their game by a score of 2-0. Jacob Gomez and Mathais Chunn both scored 1 goal each.
In varsity action, the HMS Boys soccer team walked away with a win by a score of 6-0. Atzel Fernandez had 1 goal, A'Kayden Haggard had 2 goals, and Ramiro Rodriguez had 3 goals.
