My name is Mrs. Odetta Ellington, Professional School Counselor, and it is my pleasure to welcome you to Community Middle School’s Counseling Program.
The 2020 - 2021 school year marks my eleventh year as a professional school counselor. I am an alumnus of both Central State University of Wilberforce, Ohio, and Tennessee State University of Nashville, Tennessee, where I received a Master’s of Education degree in School Counseling.
I am a licensed professional counselor; and it is my responsibility to collaborate with teachers, administrators, psychologists, parents, therapists, and students to address the best interest(s) of our students.
The standards of our comprehensive school counseling program are mandated by the American School Counseling Association and adopted by the State of Tennessee’s Department of Education.
Through classroom instruction, small group counseling, and/or individual counseling, it is my goal to encourage academic development, career development, and personal and social growth. These lessons will not only help our students during their education tenure, but help them throughout their lifetimes.
Please understand, visiting the counselor’s office does not necessarily confirm a problem. The school counselor is a resource to all students, parents, faculty, staff, and members of the community. Our number one focus is providing a safe learning environment for each student attending Community Middle School.
I am excited about this year, and I encourage parents, students, and the community members to periodically visit the school counselor website, occasionally, for important information.
