Recently, Mrs. Lawell of #HarrisMiddleSchool was awarded a grant to use in the library and for her students. With that grant #HMS, Mrs. Lawell, and her students are proud to introduce Lifelong Learners in Motion: Building Habits for Health and Focus. With the addition of walking pads and fit desk bikes students can now connect physical activity to sustainable learning habits and well-being. Thank you to Mrs. Lawell and her students for showing us how to #SoarAboveTheRest.

Recently 7th Grade students from #HarrisMiddleSchool participated in a local Career Fair as part of out #GEARUP program at #HMS. Students, teachers, and our GEAR UP staff spent a few hours learning about different jobs that might be available to them in the future. They got to interact with people in many different career fields and learn more about what they might do once they graduate from high school.

Across #BedfordCountySchools, students and staff showed their support this week for Friendship Day by wearing orange to stand up and speak out against bullying. From classrooms to playgrounds, our schools were filled with kindness, unity and friendship.

The orange seen throughout our district is a wonderful reminder that when we come together, we can create schools where everyone feels safe, supported and valued.🧡

📚☀️ What a great way to start #FriendshipDay! Superintendent of #BedfordCountySchools Dr. Tammy Garrett stopped by #EakinElementarySchool this morning to read Dare to Be Me by Kaci Bolls and Nathan Meckel — a joyful story that celebrates courage, confidence and embracing what makes each of us unique.🌟

Students loved the fun rhymes and positive message reminding us all to shine bright, be kind and, most importantly, be yourself! 💛
