Thanks to the success of last May’s Connected Community 5K, the Shelbyville-Bedford Community Foundation has awarded $20,500 to fund 18 amazing classroom projects across 9 of our schools!
This is the third year of teacher grants, supporting creative learning experiences that go beyond the classroom budget — and the amount of funding has tripled in just three years!

Each morning during the announcements, Dr. Cook shares a word of the week that aims to grow and expand our student's vocabulary. They learn the definition, some synonyms and antonyms, and hear the word used in a sentence. To help celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month, our Communities in Schools Program Manager chose students to present our word of the week in Spanish. These students did a wonderful job sharing a new word with us while showing Hispanic pride! ✨

We’re proud to share that the #CommunityMiddleSchool Art Club was selected to create a mural for Cheekwood’s 26th annual El Día de los Muertos celebration!🌼💀🎉
Their vibrant artwork will be displayed alongside murals from other Middle Tennessee schools on November 1–2 at Cheekwood.🖌️🏵️This incredible opportunity celebrates culture, creativity and community — and our talented #students rose to the occasion!🌈
