Bedford County Schools (BCS) is proud to announce that Career & Technical Education (CTE) Supervisor Lori Sexton has been named the Middle Grand Division Supervisor of the Year by the Tennessee Department of Education. This honor was presented at the state’s annual Excellence in Education celebration on December 5, 2025.
“We are so proud of Lori!” commented Superintendent of Schools Dr. Tammy Garrett, who attended the celebration with Sexton. “I think this is a representation of BCS, all the hard work we have done and the success we have had in our high schools, especially our CTE programming. Way to go, BCS! Way to shine, Lori!”
During the ceremony, the department also announced finalists and grand division winners for Principal and Supervisor of the Year across East, Middle, and West Tennessee.
Holly Flora, Kingsport City Schools – East Grand Division Supervisor of the Year
Megan Gaschler, Germantown Municipal Schools – West Grand Division Supervisor of the Year
State-level awards were presented to:
Deanna Jones, Collierville Schools – 2025–26 Tennessee Principal of the Year
Diana Wood, Putnam County Schools – 2025–26 Tennessee Supervisor of the Year
“I am truly honored to receive this recognition; it was quite a surprise,” said Sexton. “Every honoree recognized works hard to provide the greatest opportunities for students in their respective districts. I am blessed beyond measure to serve in Bedford County.”
Commissioner of Education Lizzette Reynolds praised honorees for their impact, stating, “I am honored to recognize each of these individuals who play key roles in transforming students’ futures by creating positive and lasting changes in their districts and schools. I am inspired by the dedication of these outstanding education leaders across Tennessee for prioritizing the success of students, educators and communities.”
