Hello! I am Dana Pierce, and I I am excited to be here in Unionville, helping guide children in the community that I love. Community Schools are special to me and are the best schools around! Each day, I come to school for the kids. These students teach me lessons about myself and life, daily. Helping guide the young mind, which isn't fully formed, is a great and humbling responsibility. I am fortunate to be here at Community Middle School, in the same building where I attended and graduated high school. Please reach out to me if I can do anything to help you!
Who is the Assistant Principal?
Mrs. Dana Pierce, formerly Dana Glisson, grew up in Talley Station, which is a small unincorporated town close to Petersburg, TN.
Mrs. Pierce attended Marshall County Schools for most of her life. However, as a sophomore in high school, her family relocated to a farm in Bedford County. Community High School in Unionville, TN became her alma mater. After graduation, Mrs. Pierce entered into the workforce in Bedford County. After occupations such as sales, food service, photography, baking, customer service and substitute teaching, Mrs. Pierce decided to truly pursue her childhood dream of being a teacher.
Motlow State Community College in Lynchburg, TN is where the continuum of education began. She gained an Associates of Science in Teaching with a focus on Elementary Education from Motlow, and then Mrs. Pierce went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts in Multidisciplinary Studies in grades K-8 from Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville and from the same university, earned her Master of Arts in Education with a major in Curriculum and Instruction. However, she says she has no plans to pursue another degree, yet.
Mrs. Pierce has been married to her husband, Michael for 17 years and they have 3 children who all attend Community Schools. Carter is 15, Nolan is 9, and Jillian is 7! Mrs. Pierce says her mission is to ensure Community Middle is a place where students are safe and comfortable coming to school and learning skills for their three-year transition into high-school.
